READ INDIES!!

Hey guys!  I am all about helping other fellow indie writers!  Here's some fabulous info!  Be sure to check it out!!! #AmBlogging

Today, I’m delighted to be taking part in Read Indies Hot Reads by Robert Stanek (http://readindies.blogspot.com/). Robert Stanek is the award-winning author of many international bestselling novels. His books have been written about and recommended by the YA librarian staff at VOYA, Publisher's Weekly, Parenting Magazine, the Journal of Electronic Defense, The Children's Bookshelf, Children's Writer, Popular Series Fiction for Middle School and Teen Readers: A Reading and Selection Guide, and other fine publications and periodicals. He is the founder Read Indies, Go Indie and Free Today – all initiatives started to support indie authors and books.

Robert Stanek has been a writer since he was in elementary school (which he shares about in  but didn’t start writing novels until 1984. He won his first writing award in 1991 when his essays on his tours of combat overseas earned him the George Washington honor medal from the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge. Robert signed his first contract for a full-length work in 1994 and his first book was published in 1995. In 2014, he celebrated two major milestones: 20 years as a professional writer and his 150th published books. He shares all about this in the article How I Made This Crazy Thing Called Writing a 20-Year Career (http://www.robert-stanek.com/20-year-career-as-writer.htm).

In his long, distinguished writing career, books by Robert Stanek have been distributed and published by Simon & Schuster, Random House, Macmillan, Pearson, Microsoft, O'Reilly, and others. Most of these books are nonfiction works published as William Stanek and you can read his tips for surviving the writer’s life in Traveling the Writer’s Road (http://www.robert-stanek.com/writers-road.htm).

One of the inside joke’s by and between writers is: Don’t quit your day job. Robert talks about this in his article which should have been titled “Don’t Quit Your Day Job Just Yet” (http://robertstanek.blogspot.ca/2012/12/celebrating-35-years-150-books-and.html). Another popular article of his about troubles along the writer’s road is called The Road to Success is Paved With Potholes (http://www.robert-stanek.com/road-to-success-robert-stanek.htm). Anyone needing some inspiration to keep writing may also enjoy his article entitled “Climbing Mountains” (http://www.robert-stanek.com/climbing-mountains-robert-stanek.htm).

A lot of Robert’s writing advice is very practical, including his article titled Some People Are the Dog. Others the Tail on the Dog (http://robertstanek.blogspot.ca/2013/10/publishing-today.html). In this article, Robert talks about his 1000+ titles in active worldwide distribution and how a tortoise like him has managed to eek out eventual success. Very inspirational for any writer who is disappointed with small sales.

Writers looking for deeper understanding of publishing and the business of writing may also want to read these articles by Robert Stanek: Understanding Books Sales (http://www.robert-stanek.com/book-data.htm) and Understanding Bestselling Lists (http://www.robert-stanek.com/bestseller-lists.htm).
Robert is also helping to launch Indie Plus, a premier distribution service for indie authors that distributes author’s works in print, ebook, audio and video to 240+ retails and 65,000 libraries in 42 countries while still allowing them to manage their own Amazon accounts. I mean it - stop!

I nuzzled into his chest when he wrapped his arms around me. The thumping of his heart pushed against my ear. I breathed deeply, intoxicated by his scent.  Braiden always felt like home to me. But the war always raged within me, negating the previous statement. I wasn’t safe with Braiden, on so many levels. My life was endangered, along with the wellbeing of my heart. I didn’t want to think about that now though. Right now, I was comforted by his embrace.
Our breathing synchronized and I felt as if we were one. He rubbed his well-defined jaw across my head, causing me to look up into his sparkling green eyes. He brought his face closer to mine, teasing me with pleasure. I pressed my body harder against his in attempt to put our lips together. We were so close. I was taking his breaths into my mouth, feeling dizzy from the overwhelming emotions I had for this man. Just as I was about to taste him, my body snapped my eyes open and I realized I was all alone in my bed, like always.
Braiden was gone, he was never there, never would be there. The crippling realization hit me hard, as it always did, Braiden was dead

What's on my bookshelf?

Hello my followers, I thought today would be the perfect day to let you into to see what's sitting on my bookshelf.

I have to start with The Giver.  I fell in love with this book in 6th grade!  I never realized until recently that that was the first dystopian I ever loved, therefor it will always have a special place in my heart.  I must admit, I haven't read the other books in the series, but they are on my "to read" list.

Most recently I read the Hush Hush Sage by Becca Fitzpatrick.  I read the entire series in under two weeks.  I was a bit OCD with it.  Clearly, I really liked this series.

I am always a sucker for Janet Evanovich.  I have read all of the Stephanie Plum novels and laughed during each one.

I am also a big Patricia Cornwell fan.  The Scarpetta books are my favorite, as I have read every one.

A book out of left field that I loved and speak very highly of is Angela's Ashes.  I was required to read it in my Irish lit. class my senior year of high school and it's been one of those books that have just stuck with me.  Maybe because it was the first time I got to understand what a poverty stricken life was like (yes I count my blessing) or the fact that I was pleasantly surprised by my life for the book, but I would certainly recommend this read.

The book that has scared me shitless was Midnight Express.  I know that there is a movie out there but that book left nothing to be desired in the drug trafficking business.  I am actually making my children read this book so they understand first hand what that life is like.  Although it creeped me out, I still really enjoyed it.

You'll also find the beloved Twilight Series, Magic Study series, Divergent Series, Matched Series, Chemical Gardens Trilogy, Birthmarked Series, The Selection Series,  Shatter Me trilogy, Vampire Academy, Hunger Games and 50 Shades of Grey series on my shelf.  I enjoyed them all, some more than others.

Others that have found themselves a space include, Graceling, Fire, Delirium, The many lives of Avery Snow, Blood Red Road, Daughter of Smoke & Bone and Before I fall.

There are so many more titles that I've read and loved but this is a great starting point.  Hope I've given you some great suggestions!!  Happy reading everyone!!!!!

It's been far too long...

Wow, it's been way too long since I've last made a post!!  Sorry followers, it's been a bit crazy over here!  Lots to announce- I finally have a new cover for the first book, Torn True Love, which Anchor Group Publishing is rereleasing next month!!!  How amazing is this?!?!?!  Katie, the cover artist is quite the genius!!!  What do you think of it?

I can't wait for new readers to grab the first book, and I'm even more excited for my current readers to get their hands on the sequel!!!  I have finished all of my edits and I'm up next on Anchor's editing list.  Fingers crossed not too many changes are in order!  I am hoping to start the cover work in a few weeks, I'll be sure to keep you all updated!!!  Thanks for sticking with me!!!

Officially signed with Anchor Group

I am so excited and thrilled to announce that the sequel to Torn True Love, Tore Divided Love, will be released by my new publisher, Anchor Group, this coming June.  It was a difficult decision to make in the sense that it was hard to walk away from a company that took a chance on me, however, I feel that AG is a much better fit for my work.  This company is geared more towards YA and I hope the fan base they've already built will only help my work reach out to more individuals.   I was fortunate enough to meet the owner of AG as well as some as the stellar authors at YALLFest this past November and really clicked with all of them and am really looking forward to taking the next step my publishing journey.  So far, the communication and implementation of what I'd like to see happen with my next book has been exceptional and I can't wait for it all to be in full swing.  I will keep you all updated on the progress but that's all I have for you now!  Enjoy your long weekend and stay warm !!!!
